Un usine avec un outil parfait, des clients, un savoir faire de 4200 années de travail mais: TROP CHER. Concurrence d’autres pays moins chers en main d’oeuvre, rien à faire. Tout sera revendu au plus offrant.

J’ai passé 80 jours répartis sur 3 ans à photographier le Métro de Paris. J’y ai vu, des larmes, de la joie, de la fatigue, de la solitude, des gestes d’humanité, peu de violence.
Quelques scènes fortes me sont glissées des mains mais il en reste, à la frontière du futile et du bien vu, du quotidien qui bascule, sorti de la routine, vers la beauté, la promiscuité, la sensualité, la mixité, le rire, l’empressement, la peur, le spectacle.
Je ne veux pas vous dépayser, au contraire. Ce que je vous montre, vous le voyez tous les jours.

My friend painter Jean Pierre Muller was comparing the style of this “assembled” picture of my daughters reading a photography book and the painting of the Arnolfini from Van Eyck. I agree with him some feelings are similar.

Few years ago Santiago Meija gave few books to the people in the countryside out of Medelin in Colombia. The reaction was so thankfull, that he realized that not only did he give books but also dignity to the persons and an opportunity to read. Since the association led by his daughter Lina “ Segreto Para Contar” has created, edited and handed out more than 300 000 books to families in the Colombian countryside. Their method, the content and the vision is an example to us and make them extraordinary.

It was not my intention to feature clericals but Hermana Valeriana gives so much love that it is impossible not to find her extraordinary. Since 15 years she receives kids that have been abandoned by their parents or found by the police. She now has more than 100 of them, mostly handicapped or with mental deficiencies. She answers every cry, every day, every meal, every night always.

Un livre extraordinaire, qui montre par un travail de journaliste précis et informé, que la détermination de quelques uns peut faire changer les choses. Une source d’inspiration et un appel à s’engager.
