This was a workshop organized between La Cambre School of Arts from Brussels and Carpe Diem in Lisbon. I wanted to confront the students with a very narative town. One week on the subject “Epic Light”. Students in their Master degrees produced an exhibition and a catalogue visible until the end of December. We teached with Herve Charles, Valter Ventura and myself. We were assisted by Luisa Especial and Joana Santos.

I spend 80 days taking photos in the Paris metro. I captured daily live, images on the borderline between the pointless and the purposeful . Husson Publishing did a book on the story. An exhibition at Atelier 340 shows part of the work in a retrospective of several stories published in the same house.
Among the photographers showing some close ones: Jean-Marc BODSON (BE) / Hugues DE WURSTEMBERGER (CH) / Chris KEULEN (NL) /

A series of photographers had the chance to work on the Friendship project in Bangladesh. The exhibition shows our work and a different look on Bangladesh. Friendship is an NGO lead by Runa Khan and supported by a large number of organizations among which Friendship Luxembourg is one of the most active.
The organization started with transforming boats into hospitals with the objective of helping persons living on sand banks with no access to hospitals.
Images on this story can be seen in the archive of the web site in the Asian section.
An interview of Runa Khan can be seen on you tube by typing Runa’s name.

January 19, 2014 in Kiev on the street Hrushevskoho peaceful protest turned into a Ukrainian Evromaydana beginning of the Civil War. With bursts of noise and gas grenades , Molotov cocktails , shooting activists fighters “Berkut” , the construction of the outposts of the bags , drenched with cold water , killing civilians , repression , export of people in the forest, torture and other features characteristic of the dictatorial regime ” under construction democracy” . Seeing on TV that happens, I could not remain indifferent to this , because there history was made . I contacted a colleague and friend Sergei Lebedinsky , the decision to travel to Kiev was adopted with lightning speed , tickets purchased, and a day later we ran into a severe frost on the Maidan with their film cameras . In between takes looking for a place to get warm , drinking tea , eating sandwiches , courtesy activists. Twice God saved us from the attacks of “Berkut” , there was no protection , no helmets or masks , or even orange ” coats ” with the words ” press”, although they would certainly not have saved us , because the Press was conducted aimed fire . Two days of non -stop, all alive , scratches and no injuries , I train, Sergei in the plane, and experience with a film .

“Tv is perfect, every movement is captured, Sport photographers with their 800 mm lenses and multiple shots make even better images, Not one second is missed this is REAL TIME.
I decided to have my own mood, taking the freedom of capturing in a candid way, looking at things from backstage and share it, witness the games simply for all of us owners of the event. The modus operandi is simple, a small digital camera ( G15 ), and an old camera using film (Noblex) , playing with what’s on stage, with the people around me, curious about details, capturing enthusiasm of who had the chance to be there. The films would be developed later after the games, the images used when we will have finished counting the medals and when it will be time to look back at the spirit of things and say, I remember. Backstage mood. “

Capturing ordinary moments with all their details reveals more information on our times than one can think. This story covers ordinary moments of English summer hollidays at the coast. It is part of this quest of documenting what this world is all about.

I have asked my student to express with text and photography a Revolt they had towards Society. The idea of this exercise is to stimulate opinions and transform these into a photographic expression. It gave an interesting view of what University students think about their society, the difficulty they have to translate their view into text and to transform a revolt written in text by themselves into a photographic expression that would fit the topic.
