Extraordinary people -3-
The integration of immigrant populations into our white dominated countries is one of the biggest challenges of our society. In the medium term, whites may become the minority in Western Europe. Halting immigration is impossible. Integration of different races in our society is the only viable way to avoid tensions.
Janet Moffat has been head teacher at Melcombe Primary School for twelve years. Although situated in a rich neighborhood Melcombe has a difficult child population. Most of the pupils are recent immigrants. For 58 % of the children English are not their first language, 10 percent of them live in owner-occupied homes, 40 percent of them have special education needs.
Janet Moffat’s values, the models of integration and education she uses, the energy she dedicates to the job and the results her school achieves makes her an extraordinary person.
